Beware of “Free Dental Implant Trial” Scams
We’ve recently received several calls from patients who’ve seen social media ads offering a “free dental implant trial” or “implant grant.”
Our office is not affiliated with these offers in any way. Unfortunately, these ads appear to be part of a widespread scam targeting individuals looking for affordable dental care.
We’re here to help you stay safe. Here’s what you need to know:
What’s Happening
Ads on Facebook, Instagram, and other social platforms are promoting “free implant” programs or “clinical trials.” These are NOT legitimate offers from licensed dentists.
Scammers often:
- Use the names or photos of real dental offices without permission.
- Ask for your contact information, then sell it to marketers.
- Claim you “don’t qualify” for a free implant, then pressure you into costly treatment plans.
- Pretend to run “research studies,” though true implant trials are rare and held by universities (never through social ads).
Red Flags to Watch For
- No specific dentist or local office listed.
- Promises of “completely free” implants with no qualification or screening.
- Pushy scripts urging you to “claim your spot” right away.
- Generic landing pages asking only for personal details.
How to Protect Yourself
- Don’t click suspicious offers. Instead, look up the dental provider directly and call to confirm.
- Don’t share personal, financial, or insurance information on unverified websites.
- Report fake ads directly through Facebook or Instagram.
- Seek legitimate care at trusted local practices, or check with nearby dental schools for reduced-cost implant options.
If you’ve already been contacted by someone claiming to offer a “free implant trial,” please know this is not connected to our practice.
We understand that the very existence of these scams is extremely frustrating. If you have questions about any ads or offers you’ve seen, let us know. Our team is happy to answer any questions you have and help you keep yourself protected.
