Root Canals Have a Bad Reputation. Let’s Change That.
For years, root canals have had a reputation as the procedure nobody wants. But a root canal doesn’t have to be a big, scary procedure.
With the right team, it can feel a lot more like getting a cavity filled than a dental horror story.
What Is a Root Canal Anyway?
A root canal is used to save a tooth when the inside of the tooth becomes infected or damaged. Instead of removing the whole tooth, your dentist removes the unhealthy tissue inside, cleans the tooth, and seals it up — so you can keep your natural tooth.
You may need a root canal if you have a deep cavity, a cracked or damaged tooth, or an infection that has reached the inside of the tooth. Sometimes there’s significant pain, but other times there isn’t. That’s one reason why regular dental exams matter, even when everything seems fine.
Does a Root Canal Hurt?
With proper numbing and a gentle approach, the treatment itself shouldn’t be a painful experience. In fact, the toothache caused by an infection can be far worse than the treatment needed to fix it.
If you’re someone who is especially nervous about dental treatment, tell us. If we know what you’re worried about, we can take steps to help you feel comfortable. That’s a much better idea than have you quietly white-knuckling your way through an appointment.
A Different Approach to Root Canals
At Advance Dentistry, we use advanced techniques to make root canal treatment comfortable and effective. Our doctors offer GentleWave technology, an innovative approach that helps clean the inside of the tooth during root canal treatment.
And if anxiety makes dental treatment especially difficult for you, IV sedation can help you stay relaxed and comfortable during treatment. Even better, you’ll wake up with little to no memory of the procedure. That can make getting the care you need feel much easier.
You Don’t Have to Be Nervous About Being Nervous
If you’re nervous about a root canal, or have been putting off treatment, tell us.
