Frequently Asked Questions

What are dentures?

A denture is a removable dental appliance that acts as a replacement for missing teeth and their surrounding tissue.  Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and can even enhance your smile.

There are THREE types of dentures:

1) COMPLETE dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing.

2) PARTIAL dentures are used when some teeth are missing, while other natural teeth remain.  (A partial not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, but also helps to prevent other teeth from shifting).

3) IMPLANT-SUPPORTED dentures are used when patients want their appliance to fit more securely.  As the bone shrinks over time, some dentures no longer fit as well.  Implants (which are equipped with attachments that secure the denture) are designed to provide a better, longer-lasting fit.

If I have to have dentures… What do I need to know?

There are many reasons you may need dentures.

The loss of natural teeth can result in deterioration of the jawbone (which supports the features of the face).  Over time, this jawbone-deterioration can lead to changes in facial appearance.  Correctly made dentures can help fill out the facial features, making it appear that the bone- and tooth-loss is not as extensive.

Dentures also aid in chewing.  This not only gives you the ability to enjoy your food, but (more importantly) helps you obtain nutrients that might be lost without teeth.

The process begins with a free evaluation, performed at any of our offices — conveniently located in Cincinnati and Columbus.  During this evaluation, our team will happily answer all your questions and work to determine the best option for you — based on your needs and your budget.
